Scandinavia - Norway Oslo
Oslo is an amazing city. Our hotel was in the Vulkan area a center for creatives. A short walk down the street and we found these.
This series is of Oslo's City Hall. Really impressive architecture and public art!
This wall was a little confusing. It seems to represent body parts both internal and external.
I thought this tunnels location was curious. Two perfectly fine above ground roads. So why build a tunnel. Oh Yeah Norwegian's love tunnels! My impression.
I thought this was sad. Sure there wasn't graffiti on doors in 1896.
Not really sure which political point of view this represents. Olso was our first encounter with lots of tagging and a few panhandlers.

Within the city hall there were tapestries or murals on all the walls.
Always looking for the Nordic motif. The above is from the floor in city hall. The one below is from a door in a restored Norwegian village in the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History. The other shots are also from this village.
This solution for funneling rain away from your sod roof was interesting. Birch bark shields for the roof edges.
The Viking Ship museum was one of Blaine and mine "must see"s. The sculpture reflects the sweeping design of the long boats. Each of the three boats were found in burial mounds. These boats were built and buried in the 9th and 10th century.
This is the Fram. A Norwegian polar exploration vessel from the 19th century.
Blaine had to explore everything.
Our day visiting all the museums in Bygdoy was a blustery one. The winds whipping across Inner Oslofjord were brutal.
We visited the Universities Botanical Garden where I decided that botanical gardens are more of a "look I can successfully grow in Norway" than an example of weird and/or unique flora.
Had to get me dinosaur fix. T-Rex in Oslo's Natural History Museum.
Next stop Goteborg Sweden
